The Andrew J. Kuehn Jr. Foundation
In 1951, at age 13, Kuehn moved with his family from Chicago to suburban LaGrange, Illinois. He attended LaGrange High School, graduating in 1955 before enrolling at LaGrange Community College.
From an early age, Andy understood the necessity of work and the rewards of self-sufficiency. He held jobs as a paper boy and later as a caddy at a nearby country club, even, briefly, at a local TB Hospital, until his parents learned of his dangerous employment. By the time he was able to drive, Kuehn had saved up money for a car and persuaded his mother to partner with him in the purchase.
In 1957, Andy relocated with his parents to North Miami Beach, Florida. Andrew Sr. and Eva came to retire; Andrew Jr. came to continue his education. He enrolled at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, where he took classes in the department of film, radio and television.
