- Born, September 24th in Chicago Illinois. Father Andreas Julius Kuehn, Sr. Mother, Eva Ekenberg Kuehn.
- 1951
- Moved to LaGrange, Illinois. Attends LaGrange High School.
- 1955
- Graduated, LaGrange High School; Enrolled LaGrange Community College.
- 1957
- Attends University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, taking classes within the department of Film, Radio and Television.
- 1958-1960
- Writes, produces and directs commercials for Bob Lorie Films,advertising local merchants at drive-in theatres.
Writes, produces and directs radio show featuring interviews conducted with celebrities and entertainers working the Fontainebleau and Eden Roc Hotel showrooms. - 1960
- Moved to New York City.
Takes job as Publicity Manager for Allenberry Playhouse in Allenberry, Pennsylvania. - 1961-1963
- Returns to New York for a job with National Screen Service, writing and producing trailers. Builds reputation with work on important foreign films: “Rocco and his Brothers;” “Last Year at Marienbad;” “Shoot the Piano Player.”
- 1963-1967
- Hired by MGM to head its newly formed advertising and promotion department. Responsible for trailers and TV spots.
Kuehn´s trailer for “Night of the Iguana” (1964) revolutionizes the trailer business in style, substance and advertising approach. Kuehn hires New York City editing house, Electra Films, to cut trailers instead of Studio Trailer Department and National Screen
Success with “Night of the Iguana” convinces MGM senior management to allow Kuehn to implement his ideas about trailer making and movie marketing. - 1967
- Kaleidoscope Films, successor to Electra Films is organized by Dan Davis and Mike Shapiro, to provide trailer services to the studios. Andy Kuehn leaves 2 MGM to partner with Davis. Shapiro takes Kuehn´s job at MGM.
- 1968-9
- Kuehn and Davis produce Milton Moses Ginsberg´s controversial film,”Coming Apart,” starring Sally Kirkland and Rip Torn.
- 1971
- Kuehn opens West-Coast office of Kaleidoscope to serve studio clients who have relocated back to Los Angeles. Kuehn, at Kaleidoscope, dominates trailer making for next three decades.
